After reviewing the 8th, the 2nd and the 4th of the Sono Hanabira games, here’s what I have to say about the 1st and 6th. I know, my reviewing order is kind of messed up, but bear with me.

Characters: 8/10
Nanami Oda: She’s a pretty ordinary girl, cute but not particularly beautiful and also totally average in school. The only thing that makes her stand out a little, is the fact that she’s a total klutz. It sometimes even seems that she has the special ability to get herself into embarrassing and difficult situations. However for her loved one, she is doing her best to change into a more suited partner and a student that is loved and respected by everyone.
Yuuna Matsubara: Yuuna is one of the most beloved students in all St. Michael’s. Not only is she always on top of her class, she’s also a member of the admired student council. But what no one around her can see, is her real personality that she only shows whenever Nanami is with her. Despite her elegant and calm appearance, what lies beneath is a huge pervert who’s using manipulative methods to get what she wants. Some pouting here and some fake tears there is usually enough to make Nanami do everything Yuuna wants her to.
A klutz and a pervert don’t really sound like the best combination, but adding the fact that Yuuna is not only a huge pervert but also one of the most respected and loved students in the whole school, makes the story really interesting. I kind of love the way Yuuna manages to switch between honor student and spoiled little girl and how she is able to use some dirty tricks whenever Nanami refuses to do as she’s told. And even though this might sound like a really weird relationship, they actually share one of the strongest bonds out of all the SonoHana couples.
Story: 7/10
Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o: Nanami is a new freshman in St. Michael’s, but unfortunately her first day doesn’t go as planned and she ends up in a quite embarrassing situation. Luckily one of her seniors, Yuuna, happens to pass by and helps her out of this situation. Ever since that day, Nanami just can’t stop thinking about her savior and even joins the student council just so she can be a little closer to her senpai. However, one day, she accidentally finds Yuuna doing something quite questionable alone in the classroom and ever since that day, things change drastically for the both of them.
I think the first Sono Hanabira game is also the most cliche one, especially the way Nanami and Yuuna meet and fall in love. Since it’s love at first sight, their relationship appears a little superficial at first, but as they spent more time together, you actually notice that they really do make a perfect couple. So all in all I would say, the first game is the simplest one. You have two beautiful girls with quite different personalities, an all-girls school setting, a ridiculous amount of love and Yuuna’s raging libido. Mix it all together and ta-da, you get the perfect yuri visual novel. I have a feeling that that’s really the simple equation behind the games.
Kuchibiru to Kiss de Tsubuyaite: As their relationship moves on, the both of them encounter some quite difficult situations. Thanks to some misunderstandings, Yuuna’s seemingly vast jealousy starts to surface, as well as Nanami’s anxiety of losing her beloved Onee-sama.
I was expecting the 6th game to be just like the first one, only with more sex and less plot, but I was wrong. Even though sex is the predominant theme, they managed to put in quite some character development and some convincing drama as well. Especially Nanami’s character seems far more alive and believable in this one. She’s not only the klutz anymore, this time she’s working hard to live up to Yunna because she’s very afraid of losing her. I think, this romance with some obstacles is far more believable than the perfect romance shown in the first game.
Gameplay: 7/10
Since I always have to repeat myself when reviewing the Sono Hanabira games, let’s make this a little shorter:
– 2-5 hours playtime for each game
– Around 3 choices to make
– Just one possible ending
Sound and Voices: 9/10
The voices are more than just great, I would even say they’re perfect. Yuuna sounds exactly what you would expect a beautiful and calm girl like her to sound like. But whenever she’s alone with Nananmi, her tone slightly changes from mature to childlike and teasing. I love it! Alongside with Shizuku and Mai, Yuuna’s voice actress definitely counts as one of my favorite in all the games.
Art: 9/10
For everyone who hasn’t read my previous SonoHana reviews yet, the art is gorgeous in every single game. I have yet to find a visual novel with better art and more beautiful characters, but then again I haven’t played many visual novels yet, so I guess that doesn’t really mean anything. But judge for yourself.

H-Scenes: 7/10
Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o (the 1st game) was also the first visual novel I’ve ever played. I knew that sex was involved but I just didn’t know how this was going to look like. Fortunately I was pleasantly surprised. Even though I don’t understand why anyone would want their first time to be in school, their love-making is usually quite cute and enjoyable. But I still have to warn you, Yuuna causes some “pee scenes” in each of the two games. And even though it’s just two short scenes, I bet there are a lot of people grossed out by that. But then again, you can just use the skip button if you don’t like it. Other than that, I can only say that I enjoyed almost all of the other H-scenes, but there still were some fancy positions that I just can’t understand how that is either enjoyable or even possible to do.

Kuchibiru to Kiss de Tsubuyaite: 8/10
In the first game, Nanami and Yuuna behaved too much like cliche characters, which is why the ranking of this game is lower than the one of the 6th installment. Still these two visual novels are incredibly cute, funny and you should definitely not miss out the NanamixYuuna goodness. They really created some of the most hilarious and adorable moments ever and especially the 6th game comes with some very cute surprises.

You make it seem so exciting, then I start playing one, and I get bored in 3 minutes. But the same happens with the Steins;Gate VN, so it's not just this. I'll have to give #8 another try sometime, even though I lost all my progress when I switched PC's. :'(

They're an acquired taste for me. I just need more exposure to fully appreciate them. I'll finish SonoHana 8 in a few days and will let you know how great it was.

West ist schonmal gut. Wie weit im Norden denn? Vielleicht das Bundesland? 😀 Wir kommen dem ganzen näher haha. Großstadt/Kleinstadt/Dorf/Villa auf einem Hügel ganz abseits von allem mit 20 Autos, Swimmingpool und 10 Butlern/Maids?
Sollte letzteres stimmen, frage ich direkt mal nach ob due irgendwelche mechanischen Körperteile anmontiert hast :'D
Also ich komme aus dem Ruhrpott, der Gleichberechtigung wegen sollte ich vllt auch was preisgeben hehe

Mhmm, ja vielleicht sollte ich mal nach Villen mit Helikopterplätzen suchen, die zudem noch 3 Swimmingpools haben. Gibt bestimmt nicht viele davon in Deutschland 😀
Oh man, bestimmt ist der eine Swimmingpool mit Wasser, der andere mit Geld und noch einer mit Bällen oder wahlweise Würfelblöcken gefüllt 😉

So so, bestimmt sehr beliebt bei den Angestellten hehe.
Wenn jede Maid ein Doppelbett besitzt, interpretier ich gleich noch mehr in die Freundlichkeit der Hausherrin herein ;D
welcher Pool wird bei dem Wetter momentan eigentlich bevorzugt? Gibts auch Pools im Haus? Sauna? Besitzt du einen Wintergarten? Tropenhaus?

Ich hab nie gesagt, dass sie Doppelbetten haben, aber jetzt wo du das erwähnst, gar keine schlechte Idee, in meinem Haus wird Yuri im vollen Maße ausgelebt!

Bei uns gibts übrigens 3 Pools, 2 davon in der Villa selbst, natürlich auch jeweils eine Sauna und nebenan die Tropenhäuser.
Wintergarten wird gerade angebaut, aber dafür haben wir nen riesen Kinosaal. Perfekt um yuri Anime drauf zu gucken, du bist herzlich eingeladen 😉

Yuri-Traumvilla also! Gibts dann auch so nen Kissenimmer? Also wo einfach ALLES aus Matratzen (Wand, Decke, Boden) besteht und überall flauschige Kissen liegen? Dann wäre ich für Pyjamaparty mit Kissenschlacht hehe.
Haste für die Maids denn auch nen nicen Cosplay-Kleiderschrank für Thementage? Wenn nicht, musst du die Idee noch umsetzen haha.

Cosplay müssen meine Maids aber immer mal wieder anziehen, erst vor ner Woche war bei uns in der Villa Madoka-Tag, das fanden alle ganz toll. Denke dass wir das irgendwann mal wiederholen 😛
Als wenn das jemand lesen könnte, würden die
a) denken dass wir beide total bescheuert sind

Da ich gerade frisch aus dem Japanviertel von Düsseldorf zurückgekommen bin, hab ich ziemlich viel Curry, Soba, Ramen und anderes Reis und Nudelzeug dabei.
Dazu gibts dann noch Ramune und Maccha und dazu reiche ich japanische Süßigkeiten.

Keine Ahnung, habe ich mal gehört. Die sind mir persönlich viel zu groß zum sammeln udn sehen doch alle gleich aus? Aber trotzdem wünschte ich mir manchmal die Kugel zu haben haha. Und Glas zerschlagen is glaub ich net so ne gute Idee ^^'
Ja Grundkenntnisse habe ich. Minna no Nihongo 1 quasi durch. Muss ich aber auch nochmal auffrischen. Werde dort dann in den Deutsch/Japanisch/Englisch/Mathe Unterricht gehen ;] Würde auch gerne Biologie, aber die haben nur NW und machen zu dem Zeitraum leider nur Physik/Chemie.
Ich möchte aber auch noch mehr japanisch lernen.

Nicht schlecht, da wirst du sicher ordentllich was lernen in Japanisch und wenn du schon in Düsseldorf bist, kannst du das Gelernte auch gleich in der Stadt in den ganzen japanischen Restaurants anwenden 😛

Haha leider sind in vielen der Restaurants dort nur Chinesen angestellt ^^' Manchmal ist da auch nen Japaner aber der scheint auch irgendwie nie die Deutschen zu bedienen.
