Year: 2012
Length: 2 Volumes with 10 Chapters (still ongoing)
Genre: Comedy, School Life, Yuri Subtext
Scanlation Group: Comet-Scans
Story and Characters:
During middle school, thanks to her beautiful looks and outgoing personality, Shinozaki Akina was one of the most popular girls and had a lot of friends. However, since she was ill during the first week of high school, she ends up alone and isolated from her classmates who already made friends with each other during the first week.
Fortunately, she meets Kaede, an otaku girl who sits right next to her in class. Kaede seems to be a very sweet and surprisingly good-looking girl, so Akina makes it her goal to make friends with her. On top of that, since she hates otakus more than anything else in the world, she’s determined to lead Kaede back to the “right path”. However, in order to get closer to her, Akina needs to study up on some otaku knowledge, specifically a series called PrePure.
It’s probably not hard to guess what Akina will go through and how her way of thinking will change during this little task she sets for herself. Still, even though we all know how this will eventually turn out, it’s still funny to watch Akina start to love, yet still hate, anime and all anime-related goods. She doesn’t even realize it herself just how much she is hooked on PrePure (reference to Precure), how addicted she gets to certain games, and how much she actually enjoys talking about stuff that she’d usually hate above anything.
Also, somewhere in the process of trying to get Kaede out of the otaku world, Akina starts liking Kaede a little more than just as a friend, which just boosts up her determination to get closer to her even more. Well, the yuri is not really heavy and up until now her feelings are still one-sided, or it’s more like Kaede doesn’t even know about them. But it’s still really cute to watch Akina getting flustered all the time and seeing her buy tons of otaku goods just for the sake of impressing Kaede. In short, she’s really, really cute, at least when she’s with her crush. When she’s with her otaku brother, it’s a totally different story though…
Another aspect I really enjoyed is the fact that this manga makes references to other franchises like Pretty Cure, Touhou and games and other otaku goods, in general. It’s also quite nice how close it sticks to the original anime or games, so if you’re a PreCure fan, you’ll probably come to like this a lot!
But even someone like me, who only watched a few PreCure episodes and read some doujinshi, could easily understand and enjoy what they are talking about. And even if you’ll have problems understanding the numerous references, the scanlation group Comet-Scans added an info page at the end of each and every chapter in which they are talking about most of the references that were made during all the single chapters.
Finally, I’m not really sure whom to recommend this to. If you’re a PrettyCure fan, than that’s definitely a manga for you. Comedy fans will probably also come to like this, but I think I wouldn’t really recommend this to yuri fans, at least not until now. Still, if you’re ok with subtext only and have some free time, why not read it anyway?
I, for one, really enjoyed this manga, and even though I started reading it because of the yuri subtext, I’d now even continue reading it if there was none anymore. I simply love seeing Akina struggle with herself to keep hating otaku goods even though she actually enjoys them so much. Also, all of her friends as well as her brother and his otaku friends really help keeping this interesting and very entertaining.

It really is a great read! The latest chapter it was hilarious how she was referring to team members as Prepure characters without even thinking about it xD A really big change from how she was at first.
I'd still enjoy it without Akina's hilarious yuri fantasies, but I'd definitely like them to keep going! Of course, for her fantasies to become a reality would be even better 😉

Haha I loved the last chapter as well, now they really think she's crazy 😛
Gotta love the way they all tried to approach her and she just kept acting weird, not even noticing the other girls, this was really priceless~

It seems I never noticed when this was updated on the Dynasty Reader, but I luckily found it some days ago.
I can't agree with you on that last statement, you already know how much I love Citrus 😉
