I have three things to say today. Two of which will be doujin announcements and status updates, while the other one is something a little less pleasant. Let’s start with that last one.
What I want to talk about is something that people might judge me for, which is exactly why I feel the need to talk about it before just doing it. So apparently, I signed up for AdSense. I didn’t really take it seriously at first, because I read that it’s really hard to get approved anyway, and that you’d need your own domain, which I don’t have, and a lot of other things.
As it turns out, I got approved, which is why I started to seriously think about it. I mean, getting some money for doing something that you like anyway sounds really nice at first, but I also know that most people are annoyed with any kind of advertisement. Well, people who use AdBlock and such won’t notice stuff like this anyway, but I still feel the need to ask whether that’s actually okay to do.
I will keep the ad as small as possible, and I won’t put up more than one. Also, I have no idea whether I will actually make any money at all, but just thinking that my blog could possibly earn enough money that I could just buy a single manga with it, is already more than enough for me to want to try it.
I have no idea how many of you actually care about this, and if it becomes apparent that you’re not okay with this, I won’t put up anything at all. With that said, I would really appreciate if you could just leave me your thoughts on that matter.
Now let’s quickly move on to the last two announcements.
Right now, Mai and I are working on two doujinshi. One of which is a NSFW Marisa x Alice Touhou doujin by Cloud Palette. The scans for this one have been available on the internet for quite a while now, and I’m actually just writing about this to make sure that no other scanlation group starts working on this as well.
The next one is a doujin I actually scanned myself, which is a first for me. I couldn’t find anything by this author, no translations, and also no RAW scans, but I’m pretty sure most of you have already heard the name.
COCOA BREAK surely sounds familiar if you’re a fan of doujinshi done by Sweet Pea (Ooshima Tomo). This author, who also goes by the name Oshima Towa, often works with Sweet Pea, but I’ve never seen one of her own works being translated, which is surprising, since the art is gorgeous and the content always yuri.
To tell you how far we’ve gotten with the two releases, let’s do it Yuri-ism-style:
Will there be any weird hetro angsty rape in a single page like Marshallow 😉

Nope, in none of the two works 😉

I do not mind ads as long as they're not video or sound based. I'll also turn off my adblocker so you earn extra, considering that admoney isn't earned if the ad is not viewed. Loving the look of Cloud Palette as well.

I personally think that you have the right to do what you want on your own blog (domain ownership aside).
Ok, blogging is free, but takes a lot of your free time. Nevertheless it's your hobby, and you like to do it.
So there's no harm if you get paid for this, I mean,
other people are taking 5$ per lyrics translation, monetizing their youtube account or having a little donation box somewhere, so getting paid by advertising isn't a bad thing either.
Also, I think if you start this kind of stuff, you'll probably keep up your pace with writing entries and maybe even have a little motivation source from this.
Having some ads somehwere is kind of normal, I have some on my blog too because I don't own the domain, but don't get money from it 😛
What I want to say is that you don't have to feel bad, it's totally ok and if people are feeling annoyed about this, they should a) think about why they have visited your site (of course because of the content) or b) use AdBlock Plus (and such).
This was my opinion, and I don't care if people disagree. Sorry for having written such a long essay orz

I take your word for that 😛

Unfortunately, that's not the quality you'll get.
Well ok, the Cloud Palette was a scan I found online. The scans were ok, but Mai kind of pimped them up a little 😛
For the Cocoa Break one, I used the cover she posed online, so it's not the same quality as my scans, but I'm sure Mai can work wonders with that one as well.

Thanks a lot for that post, now I'm really feeling better about all this 🙂
Money can probably really be a huge motivation, but I don't think I can make more than a few cents a month.
Still, I'll use it to buy some doujinshi once we're in Japan 😛
Doesn't that sound super exciting? Now all I have to do is getting AdSense to finally work 😛

You really don't have to thank me, I even feel a bit awkward after having published the comment D:
and that you'll be able to buy more doujinshi with this money sounds like a win-win situation for everyone here 😉

Win-win for my visitors and me, but you'll be the one who has to translate them all 😀

That means I can have confidence in the scanner of my sister? 😛

I don't mind the ads. I think u should get some compensation for your work. I mean, it does take time and effort on your part, so you should get pay in some way. Go for it, I will still continue to visit and read your post regardless! And thank you for doing the 2 doujinshi! 🙂 I'll be looking forward for it.

Do as you wish. But are you really okay with ads on your blog?
My own heart's opinion is that I honestly dislike seeing ads on blogsites. Example: the Yuricon's site is swarming with ads and I hate it for that.
But 'tis your choice to do things…zzz. Okay, I'll just honestly admit I don;t like ad-filled sites. It's like looking at WIkipedia which has no ads. Nice and clean+no distracting unwanted images (all ads are distracting).
@Smallpanda
Yuri isn't work, it's passion chap (and other stuff).

I know what you mean, websites of any kind with too many ads are just not as appealing to me, which is why I will keep it at one and not more.
I'm not aiming to make a lot of money.
As I said, if I can make enough money to afford a manga, that's already a big success for me.

I really like your blog so if it can help you buy doujin/manga then I'll turn off Adblock when visiting ^^
Keep up the good work! 😀

I'm still struggling with AdSense, so maybe I'll decide for something else anyway, but thanks for the support 🙂

So what happened to AdSense? I don';t see it anymore.

AdSense decided to randomly disapprove of me, even though I was approved already.
Their reason was something like not having long enough posts, which leads me to the conclusion that they didn't even check my blog…
Ah well, I tried other options, but no service really convinced me.
Some looked really ugly, some had ads that were like totally unrelated to anything that I have on this blog and others cheated when it came to the click count.
In the end, it looks like I probably won't be able to put up anything.
