The 15 Question Anime Blogger Game

Since it’s been a while since we last did a “Get to know us better post”, we’d now like to take that opportunity and yet again provide you with more or less random information about ourselves. This time, we’re doing it anime-style, which means that most of the questions below are anime-related. These types of questions are not related to any type of blogger tag, but since I’d like to make it a little more interactive, I’ll pass this little game on to a few more bloggers who can then continue the game by answering the questions below, and if possible, send it to some other bloggers. [If any of you find this idea interesting, feel free to do it as well, but don’t forget to notify me, so I can read your answers as well.]

We’ll nominate: OG – Yuri Nation, Ibara Kazura, and Mai88

So what better name to come up with than simply calling it “The 15 Question Anime Blogger Game”?

Yeah, sounds super lame, I know 😛

Anyway, here we go~

1. What inspired you to start blogging about anime?

For me, that’s very simple to answer. Not many of my friends liked yuri anime back then, so I usually didn’t talk much about my love for this genre. I then started to get into online forums where I found a lot of different places where you could simply express your love and share it with other people. This more or less inspired me to just make a blog and write about anything I love to my hearts content. It still helps me out a lot, and I love it~

What probably inspired me the most was just seeing how passionate Lena was with the posts she’d write on here. After I had been proofreading her posts for a while, she suggested that I write a review for YR, and she offered to become my sensei. After that first review, everything snowballed for me, and I could understand why she loves doing it so much.

2. What is the most important thing you want to communicate to your audience?

Hmm, I never thought about that. I think I simply want to share my love for this genre, help other people find out about shows, manga, games, and simply help wherever I can, when it comes to this genre and the people loving it. Then again, it’s a win-win situation really, since I experience that people actually like what we do and even find it helpful.

Most of what I review are older anime, so I guess I’d just want to give those shows a little bit of attention by doing reviews that could lead to someone discovering something they weren’t aware of before. That would be nice.

3. What do your friends and family think about your hobby?

As I said in my post about yuri a few weeks ago, not many of my friends know. My family knows that I like anime, and if they went into my room and simply picked out one of the manga in my bookshelf, they’d sure as hell know about my yuri addiction as well, but I don’t openly talk about it. (I’m still pretty sure they all know it and simply don’t ask me about it :P) In the case of the ones that know about it, they are really supportive. Some help me write posts, others do proofreading, and then there are others who help with doujin releases. It’s really amazing.

I wonder, since literally no one knows. I don’t really talk about it with others, I don’t have many tchotchkes laying around, and no one else uses my PC, so I just keep it to myself. I’d imagine if people did know, they wouldn’t really care, but I don’t feel the need to announce it to the world or anything like that.

4. Name one anime character you’d marry, one you’d make out with any one you’d kill.

Marry: Akagi. She’d surely be a really expensive wife, as in all the food I’d have to buy for her, but then again, I’d always have the perfect method to get her out of a bad mood. Also, she’s pretty close to being a deredere, and I like that~

Make out: Mirei. Don’t ask any questions. I’m just obsessed with her recently.

Kill: Tomoe Marguerite. That’s what you get for interfering with my ShizNat!!!

Marry: Mirai from Kyoukai no Kanata. She’s the cutest, sweetest, most adorable anime character ever, and I’d be willing to fight anyone who says otherwise!

Make out: Mirai, once again. But for the sake of this Q&A, I should pick someone else, so I’ll go with Shiena from Akuma no Riddle. It’s the glasses. They’re my kryptonite.

Kill: First off, let me celebrate the fact that she didn’t pick Souma from Kannazuki no Miko. Attagirl! As for me, as much as I’d like to say Yuu from Sakura Trick, I’ll go with Ragyo from Kill la Kill. She’s not as annoying as Yuu, but she is (slightly) more evil. 😛

5. What was the first anime you have ever watched and why?

It was Death Note, and I was more or less forced to watch it, since my friends wanted to get me to like anime. As you can see, they succeeded.

My first anime was also Death Note, and it was recommended to me by a certain female YuriReviewer. Needless to say, it was a great recommendation, and I’ll be forever grateful to her for opening my eyes to the anime world.

6. Which novel or video game would you like to see adapted into an anime?

Well, we already got one SonoHana OVA, but is that really enough? You guessed it, it isn’t. I demand a full SFW anime with at least 12 episodes! AND I demand some special episodes in which we then see the girls getting all steamy with each other. Okay, my fantasies are running wild again. I’ll stop right there.

Bioshock Infinite would probably make an awesome anime. You’d have the story, characters, action, and setting to make something that’s unique and different than what’s already out there. Zero chance of it ever happening, but it’s nice to think about.

7. If you could be an Anime character, which one would you like to be and why?

I’d definitely like to be Himeko. Chikane seems to be the perfect girlfriend in every way possible. Even better, these two are fated to be with each other, and Chikane is clearly so head over heels in love with this girl that she’d simply do anything for her. Yes, that’s as good as it can get, and did I already mention that she’s super hot?

I’d definitely like to be Akihito from Kyoukai no Kanata. Yeah, I’d have to endure a lot, but at the end of the day, having Mirai would make it all worth it. Also, he’s practically immortal, not to mention he has a thing for glasses, so I’d feel right at home.

8. What’s your favorite Anime opening of all time?

Hard one, since there are too many good ones. It’s probably one of the many Railgun openings. Seriously, they are all amazing, even the Index ones. Other than that, I really enjoy Egoist as well. As I said, it’s so hard to decide.

It’s too hard to pick only one, so I’ll choose several: AnoHana, Aoi Hana, Death Note, Inu x Boku SS, Kill la Kill, Kuragehime, Lucky☆Star, Shingeki no Kyojin, WataMote. Any of those~

9. Which manga would you most want to see an anime adaption of?

Citrus, end of discussion.

This is an incredibly easy question for me, since I’ve only read one manga from start to finish. Shitsurakuen would be my choice, Madhouse would be the studio, and Miyuki Sawashiro would be Sora.

10. Which anime would you like to see a live-action adaptation of?

I never liked live-action adaptations because they always looked low-budgety and just plain weird. So how about, since I don’t think there will ever be a good live action movie, I’ll just name something so absurd that I already know would turn out absolutely horrible – Kantai Collection. Have fun imagining that~

I’m not a fan of live-action adaptations either, but if I absolutely had to pick one, I’d go with something out of left field like Serial Experiments Lain. That’s so crazy that it just might work. The Monster adaptation that Guillermo del Toro is supposed to be helming would be my number two.

11.How many anime do you pick up every anime season?

It all depends on how much free time I get, and how many yuri-ish ones there are. My first priority is usually finding the yuri ones. After that, I look around for other good shows and simply start watching whatever looks good. Last season for example, I was really happy I found One Punch Man. I love this one!

I just go by whatever catches my eye. I’d say that on average, it usually ends up being around 10-12 per season. The problem is that I get so far behind midway through the season, as is the case again this season.

12. If you had the chance to go to Japan, what would you buy?

Good question, since I’ve already been there. My plan is to simply buy anything yuri at Comiket, get some of my favorite music, then get other anime-related merchandise, such as plushies, key chains and anything that looks interesting really. Then I’d also like to eat all the amazing things that Japan has to offer. Last time was already a blast, so I can’t wait to go there again~

Food, obviously. But other than that, I’d find weird gadgets and gizmos that Japan is known for and maybe buy some of those. I mean, who wouldn’t want a brainwave-reading cat ear headband? Or the iconic lap pillow? Or this ingenious device for rock hard abs? Shut up and take my money, Japan!

13. Would you like to live in Japan?

As much as I love Japan, I can‘t imagine living there. Germany is a good place to be. We have all the things that make life safe, even during sickness or unemployment. I know that especially unemployment might be a big issue in Japan once it happens. Being openly gay is also something that might not be a taboo topic any more, but the country itself doesn’t seem to be as far along as Germany is, so I guess I’d rather stay where I am right now.

As amazing as all of those products I just finished showing you are, and as nice as it would be to be able to watch anime on TV, living in Japan doesn’t rank very high on my to-do list. It doesn’t help the conscious that the only time you seem to hear Japan in the news is when there’s an earthquake and subsequent tsunami warning, so I’ll have to decline.

14. What’s one anime that you’ve always wanted to watch, but you haven’t had the time to actually do?

There are many actually. I get recommendations a lot, be it from friends or also YuriReviews visitors. What I still want to see is Utena, Code Geass and Gintama. There are many more shows that are on my to-watch list, but I guess it’s too much to list them all.

I seriously have hundreds of bookmarks from MAL of shows I want to see, but Utena, Noir, and Rose of Versailles are probably near the top. Luckily, those are all yuri-ish, so I might get the chance to finally watch them and write about it in the future.

15. Name one anime song that you secretly love, but it’s super embarrassing.

I warn you, this song is close to being NSFW, so please put on your headphones if you decide to listen to it. Well, you have been warned.

^^ If hers is “close to being” NSFW, then mine is full-blown NSFW or anywhere that you’re not alone. There’s only one anime song that I can think of that I’d consider to be super embarrassing. It’s so bad that YouTube has been taking it down, citing “sexual content”. Tch!

  1. It's really interesting to hear how other people got into anime. I also find it funny that both of you started with death note.
On an unrelated note, I just wanted to thank you guys for all the effort you spend on this blog. I've only been watching yuri anime for a few months now but finding your blog has led me to some really great series. So thank you for that 🙂
    Keep up the amazing work!

  5. I'm listening to the song right now and it sounds like a mash-up of so many openings and endings I already know, it's so weird I swear 😀
I can hear so many familiar things in this song, yet I can't even pick out what exactly I'm hearing.

Why did you have to show me, now I can't fall asleep unless I'll find out why this sounds so familiar 😛

  6. Interesting questions and answers, thanks.

Obviously we all want to see a Citrus anime (right ?).
I would marry Kurisu Makise and make out with Rias Gremory ;p
I don't want it, but would watch Love Live live action with the seiyus as theirs characters.

Your songs are not that embarrassing (well, mayby the 2nd one), for me, mayby this – Uogokoro-kun song from Locodol (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq-p6JDDBV0)

  7. The only thing that prevents me to say this anime is 100% yuri is because of 3 seconds of a dialogue in one episode(you will know when you see, and is not in the beginning),
but dont worry I see that like something that could be ignored, the love between the two female protagonist is very beautiful and real.
(and of course ignoring too, the fact that the protagonists are “specials” XD)

  8. I like how every answer is Yuri 😀

Madhouse doing Citrus will be AOTC

BTW My Waifu will always be Neptune/Purple Heart from Hyperdimension Neptunia.

  9. Oh, Love Live with the seiyuus as the actresses, I kind of like that idea.
And that Locodol song… it's hard to admit, but it's actually cute… what am I even saying? 😛

  10. For me, i would like to see anime adaptation of Notes From The Garden Of Lillies 😛
I just can't get over it. I mean its my favorite manga of all time 😀

Gintama, huh? I read/watched it somewhat over 100 episodes/chapters. It is kinda entertaining…

    For non-yuri that is 😛

Also my favorite anime opening is the one from Yuru Yuris first season, still listening it some times 😛

  11. Thank you for opening to us again! I really liked reading your answers to the fact that i loudly laughed (my sister got mad hearing me)! But, yeah! Some of your answers were previsible and others i'd never though!

  12. Nots From the garden of lilies… yeah I can see that. Though, as much as I would like to see that, I think it wouldn't be enough to fill a 12 episode anime.
Hm, well, we might just get some OVAs or how about 5-minute long episodes? Yeah, I'd like that.

  13. I'm glad you liked this game so much and thanks for answering the questions as well~

But waaaait, you said you want to kill all male harem characters, but at the same time you want to be Hazumu from Kashimashi. Okay, he turned into a girl, but that sure is stretching it 😛

Also, nice answer to question 13, I had to laugh while reading that. You're afraid of Samurai, nice 😀

    Like

  14. Haha! I don't really like harem but kashimashi is an exception: the main character became a girl and will stay a girl untill he/she will die, that's why!
For the question 13, well, i laughed to myself when writing this, but yes i sure am scared of samurai :p
It's a little funny to hear that you had the same first anime: death note… Maybe it's fate!
Ah! And sorry for this comment reply! I'm using a mobile (uc browser) and i can't reply to another comment!

  15. Fear of Samurai. Wonder if there is a phobia name for that haha. Well, what a luck they aren't walking around freely on the streets of Japan huh? 😀
