Just like our Yuri Anime 2013, Yuri Anime 2014, Yuri Anime 2015, Yuri Anime 2016, Yuri Anime 2017, Yuri Anime 2018, and Yuri Anime 2019 lists, this one will also feature all the yuri-ish shows that will air in 2020. Since it’s not even 2020 yet, this list is still in progress and will be updated whenever there are new shows to add. If you feel like we missed something, feel free to name your additions~
And for some anime that SEEM to have yuri potential, we might include those until our hopes are dashed in the worst way possible. 😛

And then there are those anime that have been announced but have yet to receive official premiere dates. It’s entirely possible that these anime could premiere in 2020, since the Bloom Into You anime adaptation began airing just six months after it was officially announced. So until it’s confirmed otherwise, we’ll just play the optimist and include these anyway. 😛

I didn’t knew about Vlad Love , i hope it is good
Seems like 2020 will be a good year

That’s probably the most interesting entry so far, and hopefully we can get some more info pretty soon.
And it’s still early, but with what’s known so far, it seems there’s hope for optimism. 😛

Do you know if the animation quality of the studio animating Vlad is good?
Also if Vampeerz manga keeps going good i really want it to get an anime version

Both Production I.G and Drive are listed as the studios involved, and while Production I.G is definitely good, Drive only has one other anime to their credit, and that anime apparently wasn’t very good.
But the chief director of Vlad Love is well-known and highly regarded, even though this is his first anime in over 30 years. 😛

Back when that was first announced, I thought about it, but I couldn’t find anything concrete, so I just decided to take a wait-and-see approach, but since we gotta get people hyped, I’ll just add it anyway.

It is from Shaft, so I have some hope that it will be worth checking out. 😀
Am looking forward to Heya Camp in the upcoming season, gotta get some more Nadeshiko x Rin in my life. And am going to check out Koisuru Asteroid since the manga had some nice subtext to it.
Another one I am really looking forward to is a non-yuri one, Sing “Yesterday” for Me (Yesterday wo Utatte). The manga was just really really great, so am hoping it translates to anime well enough. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Just saw Episode 0 of Heya Camp△, and that was pretty enjoyable, even though I didn’t understand a word.
I’m not complaining too much about it being a short, since it means even less to watch and have to write about… 😀
Koisuru Asteroid is on my to-watch list as well. You gotta have at least one (full-length) CGDCT show per season, after all. And I might give that Yesterday one a try, depending on what else I watch. 😛

Wow, just saw this, again a non-yuri anime, but seriously a great manga to become a 2020 anime:

The fate of Dragon Maid 2 is unknown after you know what.
Do Sailor Saturn and the HaruMichu appears in the saga the movies are based on? That and supposedly Chibi-Usa is swayed by the dark side. Not a “heel turn”. You know of which evil I speak.
Other shows I am aware of them and excited for most.

I’d imagine a lot of the work on the Violet Evergarden movie was finished before that happened, but the fact that that’s still coming out is promising.
And since I haven’t actually seen any season of Sailor Moon, I have no clue, but until someone says otherwise, we might as well hope for the best and include the show anyway. 😛

Most likely 300 years killing slimes/tabi witch will be in 2020 too. Can confirm if you’re going to say everything else on here is yuri, 300 slimes is yuri (but the MC is in vehement denial of it)
And then you have koisuru asteroid, but I haven’t read enough of the manga to say for sure about it.
And of course Bang Dream 3rd season
If the animated PVs are anything to go by, 22/7 WILL most certainly be yuri.
Then you’ve got Show By Rock
And then there’s Heya Camp
And that’s just stuff that’s coming up in Winter

Jashin Dropkick S2, first season was incredibly yuri, am betting this will push things further
I realize you don’t wish to talk about shows that will never be caught up on fansubs, but S3 of Prichan is gonna be going, and if S2 is any indicator, the yuri will be quite up there
Got a High School Fleet movie incoming
And that’s all I can find stuff about irt 2020

I said “animated PVs”, but I realize that normally means “promotional videos”, I mean there was something they did called something or other “days”, that had shorts that showed off the team, and the yuri was pretty strong.

Since you vouched for the slime one, I added it, but I’m not too sure about the others, at least not yet. I’ll probably wait until sometime during the winter season and gauge things once again. 😛

Anyways Gochi Usa and Non Non Biyori are going to fill my need of cute girls doing cute things anime for the year. I can’t wait for Magia Record, Railgun, and AdaShima animes, the AdaShima LN is amazing btw so I highly recommend it to anyone reading this. I have been meaning to read the manga of the slime one so with the anime coming out next year it looks like I’ll have to do so soon. I hope Dragon Maid gets released in 2020 but no problem if not, we all know KyoAni’s situation. Oshi, Tamayomi, Assault Lily and Vlad Love (there’s something about gay vampire girls that just works so damn well) look really promising, heck this whole year is looking promising. I’ll probably watch Princess Principle but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the 1st season tbh and I just don’t care much for strike witches and sailor moon to be bothered to give them a chance.

the idol one is a good slice of life comedy anime about super fan being obssessed on her Idol. It pretty much yuri, there is a lot of thought and funny imagination but I wish there were more interaction person to person between mc and her idol to be honest, but if you are cool with that, then it cute anime that worth a watch.

Koisuru Asteroid – Good anime. Cute girls doing cute things with an educational aspect.
However I’d give it a 3/10 yuri at best. One real yuri character, but the backstory of the 2 main characters really just creates an intro to a beautifully platonic friendship.

My Next Life as a Villainess
What can I say..Thus far this anime has been incredibly sweet and hilarious. Every episode is fresh! I’m already including it in my top 10 favorite animes before it’s finished.
As for Yuri, well all the main characters are head over hills in love with our “villain”, which includes a cast of men and women. They all acknowledge eachother equally as rivals as well which is refreshing. The only problem is our villainess is as dense as any harem center (which is surprisingly charming in this anime), so while she openly acknowledges her physical and internal attraction to each person, it’s not something her brain pursues further than friendship.
Dont know if we’ll get a kiss, but with the direct nature of each character, I’d give this yuri a 5/10 thus far…I’ll bump that to a 7 or 8 if she chooses my pairing in the end..but I think everything will end with no conclusion towards the relationships based on the setup.
For 2020, this anime is a must watch!

Fragtime –
I know this was technically a 2019 OVA, but the English subtitles version is now available.
Obviously a 10/10 yuri for anyone familiar with the manga.
Though I really enjoyed it, was sad to see some of the dialogue rushed and a few of my favorite manga scenes cut. Still as far as pure yuri anime available in English sub, it might be worth readvertising, since many animes for 2020 are being pushed to a later release date due to Covid19.

I think OshiBudo is rated a little high for yuri content. I’d rank it about a 4/10. The only canon yuri relationship is YumeMaki and Eripiyo stated that she just loved Maina as an idol, not a potential love interest. She and Kumasa looked down on Motoi for having a real romantic attraction to his favorite idol-Sorane. It’s very likely that Maina has a one-sided attraction to Eripiyo because she’s her first and was her only fan at one point but it’s not much deeper than that. I would like to see Sorane/Reo and Aya/Yuuka in the future but I’m not sure how likely that is.
All in all, YumeMaki was great despite having little screen time. Other than that, there were just small hints of potential yuri relationships and everything else was just extreme fanaticism.

I completely agree. While 2 of the idols are clearly in a little more than subtext yuri relationship, the main pairing are not yuri.
I found the comment section pretty enlightening on funimation regarding the idol fan relationship. Even if one dismissed Eripiyo’s comment in the beginning saying, “clearly her feelings developed deeper,” I still wouldn’t concur. While I found the idol worship distasteful as an American, apparently that sort of fan obsessed relationship is encouraged in Japan between idols and fans. But taking that information into consideration only further disproves any cannon for the 2 main characters. At best there may be a desire for friendship between them.
The series was cute, but nothing grand.
As for the yuri content I agree that a 4/10 is a better rating…but that’s only because of the yuri side couple.
LikeLike
Situations like the one in this show are always hard for me to judge. With the main pairing, it’s mostly one-sided, but Eripiyo’s REALLY adamant about it. If Maina was the same way, it would be an easy 10, but she’s not, so that’s what we’re left with.
Maybe it’s just because how our rating system is set up… 😛

Question..
Does this site only refer to Japanese anime, or all anime in general (since it’s become so popular everywhere)?
The reason I’m inquiring is because both She-ra and Harley Quinn are forms of anime that have 10/10 yuri pairings this season.
LikeLike
I asked L about this a couple of weeks ago, and our basic rule is, if you can find it on MyAnimeList, we’ll count it as anime. So it doesn’t matter if it’s Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or whatever. It’s it’s on there, we’re good to go.
Since Western cartoons like the ones you mentioned seem to be a little more yuri-friendly now, maybe we’ll add another section specifically for Western stuff~

Finished My Next Life as a Villainess. I’d give it between a 5/10 to 7/10 for yuri.
All the characters are in love with the MC and several openly confess their feelings (boys and girls included). However, since the MC is primarily concerned with her story ending negatively (like the game endings for the game she was reborn into), she’s to dense to understand their affection as more than friendship. Since the MC doesn’t discount lesbian relationships in the show (this was a slumber party discussion) and mentions how she’s attracted to both the men and women around her, I would assume her character is either a dense bisexual or a sweet asexual. Either way I personally would lean towards a higher ranking.
No kisses in the show though. Only hugs, confessions, and wishful ships by the viewers.

That score seems about right. It definitely had more yuri than I was expecting, though. I expected it to be another one of these shows that teases yuri but ultimately doesn’t go further than some minor subtext, yet they definitely took it further than that. Can’t wait for the second season~

I don’t believe there will be a 2nd season. If they’re basing it on the novel the story is longer, wish a stronger hint of a pairing..but ultimately the same conclusion. If they base it on the new manga, they just started the material for a 2nd season. So it will be a long while if they do make one.
