Even in the midst of a pandemic, the yuri world never stops, so let’s get on with the news~
First up, some rather pleasant news for fans of Madoka☆Magica. Right after the presumed final episode of Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica Gaiden aired, a second season was confirmed, so it sounds like we are (likely) going to get some finality from this spin-off after all.

Without getting into spoilers, episode thirteen was pretty insane, yet ending on a cliffhanger like that wasn’t so cool. Practically everyone who’s seen Magia Record will agree that it’s definitely not as great as the main series, but I think it was pretty entertaining nevertheless. As is usually the case in situations like this, we don’t yet know exactly when we’ll be able to continue watching—the tweet supposedly mentions “coming soon”—but we’ll let you know once we have a date~
From some good news to… some more good news? 😀
It looks like we’re going to be getting yet another season of WIXOSS later this year. If you’re keeping track of things, this new season will be the fifth thus far, after Selected Infected, Selector Spread, Lostorage Incited, and Lostorage Conflated.

The announcement was even accompanied by a PV, so let’s take a look at that.
Despite some small amounts of subtext here and there, this series has never been synonmous with yuri content, so who knows if this new season will actually be worth watching for the non-diehard fans of the series. At this point, I’ve grown pretty tired of the series, so I don’t think I’ll be eager to watch this next season. Maybe I’ll come back if it ends up being a yuri surprise, but I’m not counting on it, so see ya later, WIXOSS suckers! 😛
Next up, something a bit more enjoyable. Yuri visual novel fans probably know that L3’s A Without Voice, the first published title from Studio Élan’s Bellhouse branch, has been released.
Without a Voice by L3 is now available for FREE! This dark fantasy romance is the first game published under our Bellhouse branch.
The wheel of fate has started to spin, pulling Cassidy and Elowen together…

As you can see in the tweet, the game is now available on both Steam and itch.io, and even though I’m not really a visual novel person, I’ve started playing this one. And did I mention that it’s free?
If you have a PC or Mac, there’s really no reason not to try it, so if you’re wanting something else to play in these trying times, Without a Voice is now another option.
We still have to wait until the fall season until we can begin watching Vlad Love, the new project from famed director Mamoru Oshii, but now, we have a better look at what we can expect. Posted online was the show’s first so-called PV, however, it didn’t take long for the video to be removed from YouTube. You just know someone got in hot water for that. 😛
Anyway, a random YouTube user did us all a favor and re-uploaded the video, which you can watch below~
Vlad Love is supposed to be a serious “girl meets girl” slapstick comedy, and you can definitely see that in the video, but the thing I’ll remember most from this was that song. Some people are saying that this was unfinished and leaked too early, and considering that it was a real estate/energy company that first brought the video to people’s attention, it’s probably safe to say that that was the case. Still, Vlad Love seems like a pretty interesting anime, and because it’s supposed to be at least a yuri-ish anime, the fall season can’t come soon enough.
Moving on, just as the Kiniro Mosaic manga has ended its ten year run, we get word that a spin-off manga, Kiniro Mosaic: Best Wishes, will begin next month. But wait, there’s more KinMoza news!
In addition to a spin-off manga, the series will also be getting a new movie. It’s been nearly three-and-a-half years since Kiniro Mosaic: Pretty Days premiered, so I’m looking forward to seeing these girls once again, especially that adorable Karen Kujou~
And now for the obligatory Love Live! story. 😛
Actually, this month, we have two of them. First up, a new teaser visual has emerged that gives us a look at one of the new characters. What can I say, she looks like what you’d expect a Love Live! character to look like. Now, there are two different LL! anime, and this image is of the currently untitled one. As for the other one, on to the next part.
Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Doukoukai is the anime that we know much more about, and this new video teases the voices of the new cast.
Truth be told, it’s been a while since I was interested in a Love Live! anime, but there are super hardcore-types that live for the series, so they’re going to have quite a lot to look forward to. At this time, neither anime has a debut date, though I imagine we won’t have to wait too long for that to change.
Lastly, the effects of COVID-19 continue to be felt far and wide, and the anime industry is no exception. One change of plans that affects us yuri fans is the delay of the first Princess Principal sequel film. Originally planned to be released on April 10th in Japan, Princess Principal: Crown Handler will now premiere at an undetermined later date.
Obviously, delays like this are the least of anyone’s worries, so I doubt that many people will even bat an eye after hearing such an announcement. Sooner or later, we’ll all get our PriPri fix, so let’s hope that it’s true what they say: good things come to those who wait~
I LOVE THE STUDIO THAT MADE MADOKA , season 2 of MR announced , i told you before there was no way they could have adapted all arc 1 in the anime (haven’t seen the whole anime yet)
Im very happy with these news , if a s2 wasnt going to happen it would be sad haha
From my calculations(? If they didnt cut side stories they had for 20+ eps easy for arc 1 , and still there is arc 2 and side stories (some that could fit in the anime i mean)
The vlad love video gives me error

A month or so ago, I was thinking you were going to be disappointed by it, but it sounds like it’s not the case at all… 😀
Maybe the video isn’t available where you live? But I found someone else who uploaded it. Maybe you can see this one~

There is a manga spin-off Wixoss called “Selector Infected Wixoss – Re/verse” That has heavy yuri vibes (no kissing) but a lot of feelings of love being thrown around. More than half the characters have yandere type personalities too haha. Thankfully there was always gonna be a second cour of Magia Record. Not a big fan of Love Live but I can already tell my waifu of that show will be the girl with the notepad always covering her face.

They should adapt that! I might watch it then, but read it? Naaah. 😀
And hmmmm. Which girl should I pick? Sounds like the one you picked should be the cutest, but I’ll go with the blonde one instead~

I still haven’t played too much of the game, but it seems like it’s definitely a steal at that price.
And hopefully you like WIXOSS more than I do… 😛

Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long for more Magia Record, but COVID-19 may cause it to be pushed back a little. Let’s hope I’m wrong about that. 😛

Hmmm…. rather slim pickings in yuri news overall. Until now that is! Just heard this wonderful nugget of information:

More Kodama Naoko manga licenses is always a good thing! 😀

Oh. Another story to add to next month’s News Update. Thanks for the heads up~
Given the times, I wondered if these licenses would slow down, but it doesn’t seem like it.

Breathe, chimeko! Breathe!!! 😀
When I saw that story, I knew you’d love it.
But what if this leads to an anime OVA? After all these years, could Chimeko come to our rescue? Find out next time on As the Yuri World Turns. 😛

I am seriously losing it after finding out about this! And it is already starting next month! Even so soon it feels so far away! I really hope we do get an anime of this Chimeko manga! It may be a pipe dream but one can dream! Just when 2020 keeps getting worse, Chimeko comes to shine its light in the darkness! 😀

Vlad Love looks like it might be fun though I’m not exactly sure what a “serious slapstick comedy” is. Sounds contradictory.
