It’s an all-new year but the same ol’ Yuri News Update that you know and don’t seem to hate too much. 😀
This month’s update seems to be rather small compared to other months, but as always, if we missed any important news (we probably did), feel free to mention it down in the comments. Happy New Year~
Since last month’s update, Seven Seas announced that they had licensed the Bloom Into You Anthology manga series, with volume one set to release in September of this year. Seeing all these other creators add their own spin to the series is awesome, and I don’t think it’s something that happens often enough.
Yuu has always loved shoujo manga and awaits the day she gets a love confession that sends her heart aflutter with bubbles and hearts, and yet when a junior high classmate confesses his feelings to her…she feels nothing. Disappointed and confused, Yuu enters high school still unsure how to respond. That’s when Yuu sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity that she’s inspired to ask her for help. But when the next person to confess to Yuu is Nanami herself, has her shoujo romance finally begun? Explore this tale like never before in this collection of all-new short manga by various creators!
Seven Seas hasn’t announced when we can expect the second volume of the anthology, but it’s safe to say that it’s a ways off, possibly not even until 2022. Either way, it’s great news that fans of the series have something else to look forward to~
It feels like we’ve been eternally waiting for Sailor Moon Eternal, but it looks like the first movie will FINALLY debut. Ahead of its premiere this week, more new videos were released, so let’s take a look at them~
Visually-speaking, it looks pretty awesome, and it makes me regret never having watched any of the seasons, movies, or spin-offs. Sailor Moon is one of those series that’s well-known for its yuri content, but it’s been going on for so long that’s it’s super intimidating for potential newcomers to the series (like myself) to get into. Still, it looks like fans are in for a treat with this one, and the fans will only have to wait a month for the second movie to drop. What a good time to be a Sailor Moon fan.
It’s been a while since we had some new news regarding the sequel film to the outstanding Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight, but now it looks like we finally have a firm release date. Previously delayed by COVID, the Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight Movie will now premiere on May 21st in Japan.
For yuri fans, the spring anime season was looking pretty bare, but this makes it look a little better, even though it’ll take a while for people outside of Japan to get a chance to watch it for themselves. And that reminds me, we need to make a Yuri Anime 2021 list! I had totally forgotten, but even though all these lists are impossible to maintain, expect that post in a couple of weeks. 😛
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’d know that the first episode of Vlad Love was released last month on YouTube, so if you haven’t seen it already, what are you waiting for?! This first episode includes English subtitles, so I’d say that this was a pretty great start for the anime, which begins it’s normal airing schedule in February.
Our thoughts on this episode will be included in next week’s First Impressions post, but I’ll just go ahead and say that we really liked it~
Are you going to watch Im a spider so what? It is not yuri but it looks funny

I had never heard about it until just now. Reading up on it, probably not. Nowadays, I only seem to watch shows that are either yuri-ish or ones that I’m really interested in. You say it’s not yuri, so I’ll have to give it a pass. 😛

Its not yuri, but im going to say something in such a way that wont spoil anything as someone who reads the LN. The manga has mentioned whom i’m speaking about already, as well as their gender so its fine for you to read what I have to say.
The spider finds out who her “Creator” is, and she “falls in love” with them to put it bluntly.

I am really glad Seven Seas keeps licensing yuri. Them licensing a collection of Bloom into You one shots from different yuri creators is just the best! Now if they will only do the same for the Citrus collections… 😀
I am still not sure about Vlad Love but I will check it out. I’m just hoping we get a lot more yuri anime throughout 2021 than we did 2020.

That’s true. Seven Seas has been on a roll with all the stuff they license. We’re lucky to have them around~
I think it’s looking pretty good for this year, considering how early it still is. Would be nice to get some more announcements though. 😛

I’m really happy that we are getting more licensed yuri titles, thank you Seven Seas! It felt like only yesterday where there wasn’t that many yuri mangas licensed but I’m just so happy yuri has grown a lot over the years so we can actually get so many licensed titles! Also definitely very excited for more Shoujo Kageki! Slow start but I’m sure in the coming months we will get more news on yuri!
