Poll – What Will The Next Yuri Tournament Be About?

attempt.pngFirst up, thanks for all of your help!

We were able to gather quite the number of suggestions for the upcoming Yuri Tournament that we would now like to list all of the choices that you’ll be deciding from.

Please note that we could not list all of your suggestions. Some we had to leave out, simply because they were either too specific, leaving us with a tiny pool of participants, or not specific enough, leaving us with too many choices to go with.

So in the end, we decided to go with the ones that we read most often and some others that we came up with.

You can now see the list of the participating tournament ideas below and vote for whatever ideas sound best to you. Multiple picks are possible here.

Yuri News Update: December 2018 – Part II

Another News Update so soon?! That’s right! As has been the case lately, there’s a lot of news to sort through once again, so let’s get started~

citrus+ yuri manga

First up, those of you who’ve been depressed since the completion of Saburouta’s Citrus manga can finally turn those frowns upside down, as Citrus+ launched yesterday in the newest issue of Yuri Hime.

In entertainment, sequels/spin-offs are rarely as good as their parent story, but even if this doesn’t end up being quite as entertaining as the original, it’s still more Yuzu and Mei, so no need to complain. Besides, who needs Santa when we have Saburouta giving us such a nice present this holiday season?!

Yuri Anime / Manga / Visual Novel Awards 2018

2018 yuri anime manga visual novel awards

Just like every year, we’ll of course pick our favorites of what 2018 had in store for us. And just to make it a little more interactive for your guys as well, we’ll let you decide for your winners in these categories in next weeks post, so please look forward to that~

Now, without further ado, here’s our picks for 2018~

Lena’s Best Yuri Anime: Bloom Into You

bloom into you yuri anime

Did you guys expect me to pick Citrus? Actually, I thought so too, but then Bloom Into You just hit so hard that I just have to go with that one instead. I’m still all for cute Yuzu going crazy over stoic, emotionless Mei, but oh man, how can you resist the charms of Touko and her cute ways of showing her love?!

Yeah, Yuu is all fine, but damn. It was definitely Touko—and not to forget Sayaka—who rather made the show for me. And while I might have rooted a little for these two instead of the more obvious couple, the blooming relationship between Touko and Yuu was a pleasure to witness as well. It just felt like a breath of fresh air, something that has never been done before quite like that, and I enjoyed the living hell out of it. So needless to say, I’ll probably re-watch this quite a few times and most likely enjoy it just like the first time. That’s how good this one is~

Honorable Mention: Citrus

Yuri News Update: December 2018

tumblr adult content ban

First up, let’s start with some bad news for those of us who use Tumblr a lot (like myself).

In case you haven’t heard, Tumblr has made the idiotic bold decision to ban adult content starting on December 17th, citing an effort to make Tumblr a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Even though it has its fair share of problems, a lot of people still use Tumblr for their yuri needs, so the NSFW yuri content floating around on there might soon disappear forever. And that’s why there are already people hoping to change that decision by starting a petition.

It’s only been two days since the petition was started, yet it’s already accumulated more than 350,000 signatures. If you want to add your name to the list, you can do so right here.

Don’t Know What to Read Next? [Part 12]

a love letter from the marching puppyTitle: A Love Letter from the Marching Puppy
Artist: Tamasaki Tama
Genre: Yuri, School Life, Military, Historical
Status: Ongoing – 5 Chapters
Description:

After her parents passed away, Shinobu Indou starts learning as a cadet in a military academy. She arrives to the scene looking pretty ragged and thus gets picked on by one of her senpais, Kagami Fujino. However, as soon as she starts paying more attention to her appearance, Kagami suddenly starts acting very, very different towards her, rather trying to help and get close to Shinobu, instead of picking fights.

This one caught me by surprise. You could say the gorgeous art caught my attention, and the story kept me there. Well, the story and Kagami. Their chemistry is rather odd at first, but during the few instances in which Kagami lets her true feelings slip, you just can’t help but fall in love with them. I can’t wait to see how this continues~

Yuri News Update: November 2018

Since there was so much happening last month, we didn’t get around to posting a Yuri News Update, so that means this will be a pretty lengthy installment. You ready? Okay, let’s go~

watashi ni tenshi ga maiorita!

First up, more info has come out regarding Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!, including when it’s set to begin airing. Mark your calendars for January, and in case you don’t know too much about it, here’s a short synopsis to get you up to speed.

One day, fifth grader Hinata Hoshino brings her friend Hana Shirosaki to her house, and Hinata’s sister Miyako, a college student, falls in love with with Hana at first sight. Miyako manages to get along with Hana somehow, but her clumsy behavior and shyness, makes Hana wary. Even so, Hana gradually opens up to Miyako, who wants to become closer to her.

After Happy Sugar Life, that synopsis is scaring me a little bit, but I imagine it’ll be kind of like Uchi no Maid ga Uzasugiru!, so there’s probably no need to worry. And it helps that several staff members working on this also worked on New Game!, so it has a good chance of being pretty entertaining.

Someone mentioned in the comments of another post about how there seems to be a trend in anime right now of girls/women falling in love with children, and it makes me pretty uncomfortable that this is actually a thing, even if it’s not always depicted in a serious manner. Anyway, here’s the first PV.
