Anime / Manga / Visual Novel Awards of 2014

2014 is slowly coming to an end, which is why it’s now time to hand out my personal Yuri Awards for the year. Enjoy!

Best Yuri Anime: Sakura Trick

Unlike last year, I actually had some shows to chose from, which was really nice. I asked myself whether maybe Akuma no Riddle or Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san were better picks, but in the end, only one of these 3 shows really delivered the yuri we were all waiting for.

Sakura Trick is simply the most yuri show we got in years. I even think that it ranks within one of the top three anime with the most yuri action of all time (hentai not included).

All in all, thanks to Sakura Trick, I’m sure many of us had a great start to the new year, and hopefully, Yuri Kuma Arashi will do a similar job.

Yuri News: November 2014 – Citrus PV & Yuri Kuma Arashi Trailer

Let’s see what this past week had in store for us yuri fans. Just a warning, you better prepare yourself for what is coming.

As we all know, there was a mysterious Citrus PV announced just about a week ago. I speculated that it could be a PV for an anime adaptation, while others tried to find a more likely explanation for a possible Citrus PV.

As it turns out, I was wrong, and I’m not that surprised. An anime adaptation was just too good to be true, though, even if it didn’t happen now, I won’t give up hope that easily! If Citrus is popular enough to get something like this, I’m sure there is still hope for even more.

Now what did we get? Watch for yourself:

I know I expected more, but damn I’m so hyped right now! Even if this is just a short manga recap, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. It looks really good, but what is most important is definitely the fact that Mei and Yuzu got their own voices.

News Update: November 2014 – Possible Citrus Anime?

Before I start with what I have to say, please note that this is not an official announcement!

What I’m about to say is a guess I made based on some pieces of information I found online. I repeat, this is no official information, so please don’t treat it as such.

citrus pv tweet

This is a tweet about Citrus, posted by the official twitter account of the Yuri Hime magazine, just two days ago. Loosely translated, this says:

A Citrus PV is in production right now. More information will follow when the third volume is released on November 18th.

Anime Fall Season 2014: First Impressions

Unfortunately, since I don’t have as much time on my hands as I used to have, I’ve only started watching a few shows this season. Nevertheless, I’d still like to give my opinions on these shows, so let’s start right away.

fate stay night unlimited blade works
Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

Since I just finished watching Fate/Zero like a week ago, I was planning to re-watch the first season anyway, which is why this anime came right on cue.

It’s seemingly not exactly the same story as the first anime, Fate/Stay Night, since it tells the story from different perspectives. But this is all the better, even.

So far, I’m really enjoying this anime, and I can honestly say that the quality of the animation and especially the fighting scenes, make this an awesome watch already.

Anime Summer Season 2014: Final Thoughts

Another season, another great set of anime. Here’s the ones I’ve watched~

Akame ga Kill: 8.5/10
akame ga kill

This was probably one of my favorite shows this season, and I don’t even know why. The story is nothing special. It actually just feels like a stringing together of one random fight after another. They kill monsters, they kill enemies, and sometimes they kill each other. It’s really not that interesting, but then again, there’s something about this show that just gets me addicted.

I’m quite happy this has some more episodes in store for us. Now please let us see some more of Akame!

News Update – More Yuri-ish Anime On The Way

As always, I’m really behind on most of the important updates there are for us yuri fans, and that’s exactly why I decided to collect all the yuri-related news from the past few weeks and months and post them all together in one post. Hopefully I didn’t forget about anything. If I did, feel free to let me know in the comments.

First of all, let’s list all the new yuri or yuri-ish shows that were announced. On a side note, clicking on the shows’ title will redirect you to the websites where I got the info from.

As most of you hopefully know, this weekend, the Comic Market 86 is taking place in Tokyo. Tons of doujinshi, CDs, games. and whatnot will be released during the 3 days this event is taking place. But other than fanmade goods, there was also some quite important news released, so here are the most recent updates:

Summer Anime Season 2014: First Impressions

This time, I finally managed to get myself to not start every other show that looks good, and simply give those a chance that really sparked my interest. So this will be a far shorter list than last time. Anyway, enjoy~

Find my full First Impression of this anime by clicking here.

Other than that, I can only say that this show started out way better than expected. It’s honestly my favorite show right now, even though there are quite a few that come close to surpassing it.
