Itou Hachi, or Hachishiro, is a doujin artist mostly known for their slice of life fantasy stories involving girls with features like animal ears of various kinds.
The name hasn’t been around for too long and probably formed about two years ago, rising quickly in popularity in a really short amount of time.
The most popular works for us non-Japanese readers are undoubtedly titles like Legally Married Yuri Couple Book, that features the above mentioned animal ear girls, or Another Yuritopia, a series featuring side stories to the popular yuri Visual Novel Kindred Spirits on the Roof.
The biggest selling point for these stories are probably the oh so cute display of the girls, with big round faces, and in some cases, the adorable animal ears that boost the cuteness of the girls by at least 99%, if only in my eyes~
While I believe that this artist is mostly known for her most recent work, Citrus, this is definitely not all this artist has in store for us. For those of you who only know Citrus and no other works by Saburouta, you might be in for a surprise.
But let’s still start with her most popular work. Citrus is probably the one work which really boosted this artist’s popularity. We already arrived at Volume 3, which is a lot for anyone who understands just how hard it is for a yuri manga to get more than only one volume. Three is a whole lot in that sense, and it might not even be the last one.
Other than Citrus, Saburouta has only released one more yuri work under this specific name, and that is her adult one-shot Partners, which was featured in Yuri Hime Wildrose magazine last year. Before that, Saburouta was mostly known for her ecchi one-shots featuring heterosexual couples, and in some rare cases, some yuri-ish scenes. Only a few of them have been translated so far, and it’s not that easy to find them online, so if you want to take a look, click here.

First of all, I have a confession to make. A long time ago, I would not touch any of Takemoya Jin’s works. I skipped through them, only noticing the things that I don’t like, which is why I never really took a closer look. All I saw was the art, and to be honest, even today, after falling in love with this artist over and over again, I’m still not a fan of this specific art style. Still, even though the art isn’t to my liking, I will never forgive myself for not taking a closer look back then.
First, since we’ll discuss the art later anyway, let’s just put this aside and focus on her stories for now. Hands down, Takemiya Jin is one of the greatest yuri artists there is right now. Of course, this is just my opinion, but I’m sure many of you will agree with me.

When it comes to this artist, you can be certain of two things: First, there will be sex, yuri sex to be exact. And second, the setting of the whole thing might be a little… let’s call it different. Well, the second point does not always apply, but stories about prehistoric yuri harems, for example, are not exactly what I see as a common thing.
Do I consider that as good or a bad thing? Well, in this case, it’s definitely a good thing. I mean, how often do we read about high school girls falling in love with each other? So reading about a love story that takes place in the 19thcentury about a mistress and her maid is kind of nice, for a change.

Ooshima Tomo is a female doujin artist who’s just been around for seemingly two years, at least under these specific names. Within this short amount of time, she has already released quite a number of doujinshi based on anime like Doki Doki PreCure, Smile PreCure, Suite PreCure,Love Live! and lately also some works based on the Japanese online game Kantai Collection.
All of these works are yuri doujinshi, adult ones to be exact and if I may add, they are pretty good when it comes to that.
In these doujinshi, you will find the following pairings: (There are more, but some works are not translated yet)
- ReikaxNao(xAkane) (Smile PreCure)
- KanadexHibiki (Smile PreCure)
- ManaxRikka (DokiDoki PreCure)
- ZuikakuxShoukaku, KumanoxSuzuya and one other KanColle pairing I unfortunately don’t know the names of yet. Continue reading

Minase Ruruu is a female manga artist mostly known for her ecchi yuri one-shots. There are unfortunately not that many translated works out yet, but simply because I
like love her already released works so much, I just have to write a review about her.
So far there are only 4 translated one-shots out:
A Passing Shower
A Cold and After That
This is a Great Hug Pillow
Up until now, Minase Ruruu has released a lot other yuri one-shots as well as doujinshi, and as far as I know, Yuri-ism is translating some more works for us to enjoy right now.
Furthermore, despite the 4 one-shots mentioned above, I’ve “read” 2 other works by her and it seems they are all pretty similar; Continue reading
Milk Morinaga is probably one of the most popular, if not the most popular yuri mangaka of all time. She already released numerous manga, doujinshi and even one-shots for many different yuri magazines. Furthermore, since she is so popular in this genre and since she already published so many yuri works within the last 10 years, some people even call her “The Queen of Yuri”.
Without doubt, her most popular work is “Girl Friends”, her 5 volume-long yuri manga about the sweet love story between Mari and Akko. Besides Girl Friends she has also released a number of other yuri manga, her most recent ones being “The Secret Recipe” and “Gakuen Police”.
In addition to that she has published numerous one-shots, as well as doujinshi about anime such as Sailor Moon, Utena, Pretty Cure and Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica.
Her works vary from cute and innocent to stories with horror, rape and gore elements involved. And even though almost all of her manga have yuri as a main or a sub-theme, it’s mostly her more innocent and cute works that are really popular among us yuri fans.
Well, does that come as a surprise? Not for me.
I’m pretty sure many people don’t even know about Milk Morinaga’s “Mare” or “Milk Shell” and that’s probably a good thing. Continue reading
