Yuri News Update: September 2020

yuri news update september 2020

As we do at the beginning of every month, it’s time to recap what’s been going on in the world of yuri. If we missed something important, feel free to let us know in the comments, but without further ado, let’s get started.

adachi to shimamura yuri anime

First up, we’re just over a month away from the premiere of the anime adaptation of Adachi to Shimamura, and to tide us over until then, a new PV and key visual have been released. The E.T. vibes of the visual are nice, and the PV? It further cements this as a “can’t-miss” anime for yuri fans.

The sweet tone of the PV is something I’ve been missing from all these other anime, and with the yuri drought we’ve been experiencing almost at its end, Adachi to Shimamura should be the most anticipated yuri anime since Bloom Into You. But that’s not all the AdaShima news there is to pass along…

Yuri News Update: June 2020

It’s the first Wednesday in June, which means it’s time for yet another Yuri News Update. If I missed a news story worth mentioning, feel free to mention it down below in the comments. 😛

adachi to shimamura animee

Let’s get things started with some good news. The hopes and dreams of yuri anime in 2020 have rested on the shoulders of Adachi to Shimamura for some time, so it’s especially rewarding to learn that it’s finally set to premiere in October. It’s also rewarding to see another PV, as shown below.

For reasons we’ll talk about more later on, it was worrying that this show didn’t have a set date yet, but it turns out it’s only four short months away. Even though I personally haven’t read the light novels or manga, the PV makes this look very promising, and I’m so looking forward to getting to watch an actual yuri anime again~

Yuri News Update: January 2020

First off, Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you’re all doing well, and even though it’s the very first day of the year, we gotta get prepped for what the remaining 364 days have in store for us. As you may have noticed, YR has grown up so much, and we can now say with authority that we are the biggest yuri blog on the planet, literally! 😀

But enough about our good looks, let’s get this year started off right~

adachi to shimamura yuri anime

Finally, we have some concrete info on 2020’s most anticipated (and so far only) pure yuri anime, Adachi to Shimamura. As you can see above, the show got a new visual to gawk at, but we now know which studio is in charge of production. It turns out it’s Tezuka Productions that will be doing the honors.

The studio is best-known for titles such as Black Jack and Astro Boy, but they’re also responsible for more recent anime like Dagashi Kagashi 2, and the studio also co-produced the excellent 2019 adaptation of Dororo. Oh, they’re also responsible for 1991’s Oniisama e…, which we’ll be reviewing in the coming weeks~

But enough talking, watch the PV already!

Oh yeah, that’s the good stuff we need more of. The hype train just picked up a lot of steam with this PV, and because it looks good and is coming from a legitimate studio, every yuri fan should be looking forward to this. We still don’t know when AdaShima will premiere, but it’s safe to say that a lot of people will have that date circled on their calendar.

Yuri Anime 2020

yuri anime 2020

Just like our Yuri Anime 2013, Yuri Anime 2014, Yuri Anime 2015, Yuri Anime 2016, Yuri Anime 2017, Yuri Anime 2018, and Yuri Anime 2019 lists, this one will also feature all the yuri-ish shows that will air in 2020. Since it’s not even 2020 yet, this list is still in progress and will be updated whenever there are new shows to add. If you feel like we missed something, feel free to name your additions~

And for some anime that SEEM to have yuri potential, we might include those until our hopes are dashed in the worst way possible. 😛

Yuri News Update: September 2019

The yuri hype train never stops, and this month’s installment sees a little bit of everything, so come aboard and enjoy the sights~

flag time yuri anime

The November premiere of Flag Time keeps getting closer and closer, and now that we’re just a couple of months away, we finally have a proper trailer to gaze at. Check it out~

Looks pretty promising, huh? The teaser we saw back in June gave us a tiny glimpse of what to expect, so even though this is going to be no more than an hour long, it should still easily be one of the yuri anime highlights of 2019. With how mediocre this year has been for yuri anime fans, this can’t come soon enough, so just give it to us already! 😀

Yuri News Update: June 2019

Since it’s been a while since our last Yuri News Update, there’s a lot to cover this time around. Let’s get started~

flag time fragtime yuri anime

First up, some much-needed good great news in this yuri anime drought we’re suffering from.

Looks like we have another anime adaptation to look forward to, come November. That’s when Flag Time will grace us with its presence in Japanese theaters, a few years after the manga finished its run. The OVA comes courtesy of Tear Studio, and it reunites the director, animation director, and composer of Asagao to Kase-san., so needless to say, it appears this OVA is in good hands.

I think we can all agree that we NEED some more yuri anime this year, so even though November seems far off, this is still very welcome news. This seems like a bit of an odd choice to adapt into an anime—considering what other great stuff is out there—but at least the story is interesting, so my hopes remain pretty high that this will turn out to be one of the yuri anime highlights of the year~
