Among all of my Top 10 lists, this was one that was still missing, so we gotta change that quickly!
Though, before getting into the list, let me say the following: Since we unfortunately still don’t have that many full yuri shows, you’ll also find shows with either heavy subtext or yuri as side stories in this list. With that said, let’s not waste any more time. So here are my Top 10 favorite Yuri anime. Enjoy!
10. Mai-HiME

There are certain anime scenes that are hard to forget, that simply never fade from your memory, and that you go back to watching every so often. These scenes usually leave you with a nice feeling and make you all excited for more. And these are exactly those anime moments that I’d now like to collect and share with you.
So get ready for the most memorable moments in Yuri Anime history~
The year went by in what seemed to be a flash, at least from my perspective. I remember getting back from Japan in early January, and now, we’re almost at the same point again.
But that’s not really what this post should be all about. Well, what I failed at actually telling you with this weird introduction is the fact that I can’t believe that another year has already passed. So since this year went by so fast, let’s do a short recollection of the most important things that pretty much characterized the year for us Yuri fans.
We could say 2015 more or less started out with the continuation of our favorite action/sci-fi/drama/parallel universe/mecha/yuri(ish) anime Cross Ange – a very nice start, if I may say so.
Story: 6.5/10 and Characters: 9/10
Misurugi Empire – a futuristic utopia-like world in which people don’t feel the need to start wars among each other anymore. They are all united and live with a high economic status, which all roots from a mysterious power called Mana. Almost all citizens are able to use some kind of magic, enabling them to live their life the way they do.
The ones who don’t have these powers however, are viewed as misfits, or more like dangerous monsters who don’t belong in this picture-perfect world. Normas, as they call them, have to live isolated from the rest of the word, on a little island in the middle of nowhere, where they are forced to protect humanity and fight the dragons that endanger the world’s safety.
On her crowning day, Angelise, the princess of Misurugi Empire, who was loved by all citizens, is discovered to be a Norma. Just like all the others, she thereby meets the fate of being forced to fight for the sake of the people who abandoned and also hate her, for the rest of her days.
Personally, I’m a big fan of these “drastic change of life” kind of stories. Especially how they portrayed the way Angelise’s life changed, or more like shattered right in front of her, makes it quite an interesting start.
Just like my Yuri Anime of 2014 list, and the new Yuri Anime 2016 list, this one will also feature all the yuri shows that will air this year. Since it’s only the beginning of 2015, this list is still in progress and will be updated whenever there are new shows to add. If you feel like I missed something, or if you want to add a yuri rating to a show that’s finished airing, feel free to name your additions.
