Yuri News Update: August 2020

yuri news update

It’s that time of the month again, time to go over what’s been happening in the world of yuri anime, manga, and visual novels. So sit back, relax, and enjoy August’s Yuri News Update~

And as usual, if we missed anything important, let us know in the comments.

donuts under a crescent moon yuri manga

There are a lot of manga licenses to get to, so let’s start off with one. Thanks to the kind folks at Seven Seas, Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon will be brought to audiences in North America, with the first volume being released in February 2021. In case you’re not familiar with it, here’s the description.

Uno Hinako throws herself into makeup, fashion, and falling in love, hoping that will make her seem “normal” to the other people at her job. But no matter how hard she tries, she’s a self-doubting mess inside, and her attempts at “normal” romance with men just keep failing. When she starts to think she might be alone forever, a new normal presents itself–in the form of her relationship with Sato Asahi, a level-headed woman who works at her company, which starts as respect until it becomes far more intimate.

While yuri anime fans have to make do with the typical assortment of idols, magical girls, and school girls, yuri manga fans get interesting stories like this, and I’d be lying if I said I’m not jealous. Not every story has to star fifteen-year-olds, so manga fans have it pretty dman good, especially with all these licenses that keep coming down the pike.

Yuri News Update: September 2019

The yuri hype train never stops, and this month’s installment sees a little bit of everything, so come aboard and enjoy the sights~

flag time yuri anime

The November premiere of Flag Time keeps getting closer and closer, and now that we’re just a couple of months away, we finally have a proper trailer to gaze at. Check it out~

Looks pretty promising, huh? The teaser we saw back in June gave us a tiny glimpse of what to expect, so even though this is going to be no more than an hour long, it should still easily be one of the yuri anime highlights of 2019. With how mediocre this year has been for yuri anime fans, this can’t come soon enough, so just give it to us already! 😀

2018 Reader’s Choice Awards

2018 reader's choice yuri awards

Not too long ago, we gave you OUR choices for the best anime, manga, and visual novels of 2018, but this time, it’s YOUR turn to choose the winners.

Because some of the categories from our list are incredibly hard to narrow down to only a handful of nominees, we’ve left some of those categories out. Also, forgive us if the nominees skew towards anime. 😛

★ BEST YURI ANIME ★

There are other shows like Tachibanakan Triangle that could have been nominated, but let’s be real, everyone knows it’s a three horse race.

Let’s Talk About Yuri Visual Novels [List of Yuri Visual Novels]

* UPDATE *

It’s not the first time we’ve republished this post, but this time, the list has undergone a MASSIVE update. Around 300 more visual novels have been added to the list, giving us nearly 450 visual novels in total~

When it comes to visual novels, my knowledge is pretty limited, since I have just not spent that much time on playing many. Of course, part of the reason why I haven’t done so is the fact that there are simply not that many translated visual novels available that trigger my interest, so my knowledge is almost solely limited to yuri VNs.

In this post, I decided to write about my experiences with yuri visual novels, tell you which ones I liked the most, and also name some yuri titles for you that are either already translated or that are being worked on right now. And finally, I would also like to list just a few of the most interesting looking yuri visual novels that still no translation group has picked up yet.

We plan to regularly update the list, so keep an eye out for more visual novels to be added! If you find a mistake or feel like there are titles that are missing, do let us know.

Please note that by clicking the titles, you’ll get redirected to either the game’s VNDB entry, official website, or in some cases, my own review of the game. Also, the release dates and publishers listed refer to the English translation unless otherwise specified. For some of these VNs, it’d be a stretch to call them yuri visual novels, but they all have some semblance of yuri in them, so you could say that the term still applies.

The visual novels on the list will be broken down into three categories. You can click on which of these you’re looking for and skip ahead to that portion of the list.

First of all, which more or less popular yuri titles have already been fully translated/released?

Yuri News Update – January 2017

This will mostly be a short update on some blog-related things, though, there is actually one thing that we definitely should mention before getting there.

FLOWERS-Visual-NovelAs mentioned on Twitter by JAST USA, the next volume of FLOWERS, namely -Le volume sur ete- will be released sometime in 2017. They didn’t specify when, though the mere mention that we’ll get another one in 2017 is already good enough. Find the tweet I’m referring to right here.

In other news, and let’s try to keep it short here, we’ve updated a few posts.

First off, we added quite a few more characters to our list of Yuri Anime Legends. It’s quite big already, but we’ll be sure to keep it up to date to honor all the amazing yuri characters that we think this list should contain. Feel free to check out the additions right here. Continue reading

What to Expect in 2017

Since we now all made it safely into the new year, why not take the opportunity to just take a small look at what we might expect to see in the following 12 months?

citrus netsuzuo trap animeWell, of course, we have to start with the news that hit us in late 2016 – that being Citrus and Netsuzou Trap both getting anime adaptations. Well, since we didn’t really get any more information other than the fact that those two manga will be made into anime, we can’t really be sure that the adaptations will happen in 2017. In fact, we only know for sure in case of Netsuzou Trap. Though, I think we’ll get some more information on that soon, so let’s now just expect both shows to hit us this year.
