2015 is slowly coming to an end, which is why we’ll have to stick to our old traditions and hand out my personal Yuri Awards for the year. Enjoy!

Best Yuri Anime: Yuri Kuma Arashi

This one was actually the first big Yuri show of 2015, and it more or less blew our minds, for many different reasons. For many, this anime is one of the greatest shows of the whole year, due to the way you really had to invest some time and even re-watch episodes to really get what certain scenes were supposed to explain to us. For others, this was simply too much, making the show hard to follow, and thus easy to drop. Personally, I had a blast. I can’t say I really got all of what this show had to offer, but it was a real fun ride nevertheless~

News Update: December 2015

It’s been a while since the last News Update, so we have a lot to get to this time around. Let’s get started~

Starting off with everyone’s new favorite yuri hentai anime, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid Specials are on the way. They’re mini OVA episodes that will come bundled with the Blu-ray and DVD releases of Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid. Volume 1 goes on sale on December 18th in Japan, so until Volume 6 is released in May 2016, we’ll have even more Mirei x Mamori goodness to feast our eyes on. It’s kind of disappointing that they’re only “mini” episodes, but let’s hope we see even more yuridiculous moments with these specials.

Also being announced a while back was plenty of Hibike! Euphonium news to get excited about. A recap movie, Hibike! Euphonium Movie: Kitauji Koukou Suisougaku-bu e Youkoso, as well as a second season have been given the greenlight. The recap movie is fine, but what’s really exciting is news of another season. Everyone fell in love with KumiRei, and after hearing all of the complaints voiced by the legions of yuri fans, let’s hope KyoAni comes to their senses and gives us what we really want. The movie is currently set for April 2016, while season two’s premiere is yet to be determined. If you can’t quite wait that long, don’t forget that an unaired episode (Hibike! Euphonium: Kakedasu Monaka) is being released alongside the seventh Blu-Ray and DVD volumes, which hit Japanese shelves on the 16th.

Anime Spring Season 2015: Final Thoughts

As always, here are our final thoughts on some of the shows from the previous anime season~

Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to start watching many different shows this season, but I did pick up 3, and this one was my favorite! Queerbaiting or not, Kyoto Animation again created a show that I simply couldn’t help but love. You could say they yet again used the right formula to make me fall in love with it: cute, lovable characters + believable drama + great animation + STRONG yuri subtext.

Now, even if the yuri part of the show had some obvious flaws, it’s still one of the most enjoyable shows of this whole year.

Anime Review: Hibike! Euphonium

Year: 2015
Length: 13 Episodes
Genre: Slice of Life, Comedy, Music, School Setting

Story: 9/10 and Characters: 9.5/10
Hibike! Euphonium is an anime about a school concert band club, their numerous members, and their journey to the national championship.

The story focuses on Kumiko Oumae, a freshman who has already been a member of the concert band club in her previous school. She’s still trying to come to terms with the happenings of the last big tournament that she participated in with her former club members, and when she meets Reina Kousaka—one of the said members—things get troublesome for her.

I haven’t read the original novel that this anime is based on, but what I can say is that I really love the way they present the characters to us in the anime. Kyoto Animation is one of the few studios that I can always be sure to show us a very lovable set of characters, and they didn’t disappoint this time either.

Yuri Anime 2015 [Completed]

Just like my Yuri Anime of 2014 list, and the new Yuri Anime 2016 list, this one will also feature all the yuri shows that will air this year. Since it’s only the beginning of 2015, this list is still in progress and will be updated whenever there are new shows to add. If you feel like I missed something, or if you want to add a yuri rating to a show that’s finished airing, feel free to name your additions.
