Because it’s the end of the decade, we thought we had to have it go out in style by creating a star-studded award ceremony celebrating yuri’s best and brightest. If I wasn’t allergic to manga and visual novels (:P), this post would be even bigger, but as it is, there are over 30 awards up for grabs, so take a seat as we do our best Oprah impersonation and just hand out the honors.
Oh, and because it’s a super special occasion, there are also a few non-yuri awards handed out, but enough talking! Let’s get started~
It feels like we had a Yuri News Update just yesterday, but here we are again with another installment. Let’s get started~
Right off the bat, let’s start with something to REALLY get excited about. We’ve gotten to know Ratana Satis as the yuri genius behind Pulse, Lily Love, and Lily Love 2 ~Frosty Jewel~, but in case you’ve been wanting even more yuri goodness from her, she’s about to once again deliver the goods.
Soul Drifters is the title of her next work, and here’s a little preview courtesy of the kind folks over at Three Musqueerteers.
Looking good, huh? It seems like this is going to be something in the sci-fi genre, and even though we don’t yet know when to look out for this, yuri fans everywhere should already get excited. Very excited~
After an fortunately not so long wait, it’s finally time for the second big yuri highlight of the year. What started out as a mere rumor, soon developed into a confirmed one-episode-long OVA, and as it turns out, it’s not only that, but rather something close to a short movie even!
To say that finding out about the length of this so called OVA was a pleasant surprise, is an understatement, a big one, actually. I was more thrilled than anything to find out about the actual length of this OVA, and all of a sudden, the fact that this was not a full-fledged anime didn’t seem to bother me that much anymore.
So just about a week ago, the OVA finally aired and presented to us roughly an hour of almost solely pure and unfiltered yuri fluff. What a time to be alive!Continue reading →
There’s a lot to cover in this Yuri News Update, so let’s get started~
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I’m sure you’ve heard about the amazing news that Bloom Into You is getting an anime adaptation.
Unlike some other recent yuri anime adaptations *cough* Netsuzou TRap & Tachibanakan Triangle *cough*, an anime studio with some respectable titles under its belt will be handling this in TROYCA (Aldnoah.Zero, Re:Creators, and Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru).
When we last checked in, this was a leak that had yet to be confirmed, but it’s now official, and October is when this is set to premiere. If you remember, last year, Bloom Into You won our Yuri Tournament to decide which yuri manga was most deserving of an anime adaptation, so I think it’s safe to say that all of you folks who voted for it are responsible for this. Thanks. 😉
After having talked about the highlights as well as all the things that were already announced that we can look forward to in 2018, why not talk about our wishes for this year as well?
So far, we can definitely not complain about the amount of things we already know will hit us this year. However, as greedy as it might sound, there’s always more things the community might want, so today, let’s focus on all the things that might or might not follow or happen as 2018 drags along.
First up, as the Citrus anime is basically right around the corner, especially after the disappointment of last year’s anime adaptation of Netsuzou TRap, what we need right now is a yuri anime that does its job right. One that might finally attract more viewers, actually sells a decent amount of copies, and simply gains enough attention, in a positive way, if I might add.
