Another new month has begun, so that means it’s time for yet another Yuri News Update.
Because it’s the end of the decade, we thought we had to have it go out in style by creating a star-studded award ceremony celebrating yuri’s best and brightest. If I wasn’t allergic to manga and visual novels (:P), this post would be even bigger, but as it is, there are over 30 awards up for grabs, so take a seat as we do our best Oprah impersonation and just hand out the honors.
Oh, and because it’s a super special occasion, there are also a few non-yuri awards handed out, but enough talking! Let’s get started~

Just like our Yuri Anime 2013, Yuri Anime 2014, Yuri Anime 2015, Yuri Anime 2016, Yuri Anime 2017, and Yuri Anime 2018 lists, this one will also feature all the yuri-ish anime that will air in 2019. Since it’s not even 2019 yet, this list is still in progress and will be updated whenever there are new shows to add. If you feel like we missed something, feel free to name your additions~
It should be noted that, like every year, there were some shows that ultimately didn’t make it into this year. Anyway, just click on the one of the seasons to jump to that part of the post. 😛
First up, let’s start with some bad news for those of us who use Tumblr a lot (like myself).
In case you haven’t heard, Tumblr has made the
idiotic bold decision to ban adult content starting on December 17th, citing an effort to make Tumblr a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Even though it has its fair share of problems, a lot of people still use Tumblr for their yuri needs, so the NSFW yuri content floating around on there might soon disappear forever. And that’s why there are already people hoping to change that decision by starting a petition.
It’s only been two days since the petition was started, yet it’s already accumulated more than 350,000 signatures. If you want to add your name to the list, you can do so right here.
Inspired by OG’s post about OT3s, I thought, why not talk about it myself? It’s a pretty interesting topic. However, let’s spice things up by adding crack pairings into the mix as well.
Though, first things first; What is an OT3? Well, if you’ve already heard about an OTP, which literally means “one true pairing”, you simply add another person, making it a 3 person relationship.
Love Live! does a great job at providing us with ample material, so let’s go with You x Riko x Chica [Love Live! Sunshine!!] and Kotori x Umi x Honoka [Love Live!] as examples.
As for crack pairings, it’s basically a romantic pairing that doesn’t make much sense, is just absurd, and possibly also just goes against the let’s say more mainstream pairings of the series.
Can you believe it? It’s been 2 years since I last updated this list?! Surely, a lot has changed in these 2 years, so it’s about time to add some new pairings to the list and update my thoughts on the ones that have been in there for years already~
Finé is already one of my favorite anime characters of 2016, while Izetta probably made it to my top 3 cutest anime characters of all-time. So even without pairing them up with each other, I’m absolutely in love with both of them. However, if you now ship them with each other, what emerges from this simple equation of Finé + Izetta, is simply heavenly.
Those two compliment each other wonderfully, with strong and badass Finé handling her beloved and oh so loyal Izetta with the utmost care.
Their scenes together are some of the most enjoyable moments in anime history, and it makes me wonder just why in the world there hasn’t been more fan art and doujinshi about them. It’s something that I really can’t understand, as to me, they seem like the perfect match~

Basically, this new season of Love Live! is pretty much a clone of the very first Love Live! season, only with slightly better animation and characters with different names:
Genki girl Hono-, I mean Chika, one day decides that she wants to be a school idol and thus starts looking for more members. Of course, the student council is—for mysterious reasons—not too happy about that, but they make it through anyway, gain more members on their way, and even get their initial opponents to join the team. Sounds familiar?
Anyway, the characters seem pretty similar to the μ’s girls as well, but I think I should let pictures speak instead.
