We all knew that one day, I would definitely find a reason to dedicate a whole blog post to my new favorite game, and guess what? Today’s the day.
I’ve now been playing the game for over half a year, loving it throughout all this time, though, let me assure you, I won’t waste your time just telling you how much I love it. Instead, why not focus on the yuri aspect with this post?
When it comes to that, I’ve come to compare Overwatch a lot with Love Live!. To make it a little more clear what I’m talking about, let me just say the following: Fandoms of both titles tend to ship the characters a lot – with each other. Of course, there are many other games, as well as shows, where this applies, but these two go way further when it comes to shipping than many others go. It’s not just a few popular pairings, no, you could almost say that pretty much every character get shipped with numerous others, depending on what people enjoy most. You can easily google what I personally would call a weird pairing, like let’s say D.Va x Symmetra, and still get quite a number of fitting results. Same goes for Love Live!, which is exactly why the two feel so similar when it comes to this aspect. Kantai Collection might be another game with a similar, let’s say “shipping system”, though right there, we got many more than 100 different characters, and despite the fact that there are quite a few crack pairings, most of the characters have a set ship girl that they usually get paired up with.
Yet again, the year went by in a flash, or at least that’s how it feels to me. And in old YuriReviews fashion, we’ll of course talk about our highlights of this oh so short year, so let’s just get right to it.
I feel like, compared to 2015, 2016 had a noticeably larger amount of yuri content to offer to us, especially when it comes to Visual Novels. FLOWERS, Kindred Spirits on the Roof, and Nurse Love Addiction, just to name some big titles here. But that’s the thing, despite having them and numerous others, it doesn’t just stop there. There are actually even more in the making right now, and that is a situation that has never, ever been there before. Continue reading →
2016 had a lot to offer. Maybe not too many yuri anime, but definitely a lot of other yuri media, such as a ton of yuri visual novels and some really awesome new yuri manga.
So in old YuriReviews fashion, we would like to hand out some awards for who and what we think deserves these awards most this year:
Lena’s Best Yuri Anime: Shuumatsu no Izetta
Well, other than the Valkyrie Drive Specials we can’t really say 2016 offered any other pure yuri show, so I guess we have to work with what we got and make the best of it, right? So, since I didn’t want to go with “only” some specials from a show that aired last year, I decided to go with the show that came closest to what I think is really yuri, which is Izetta: The Last Witch. Despite the fact that she show doesn’t label itself as yuri, nor do the two main characters ever really declare their love, I still feel like it’s pretty obvious that they actually do love each other—romantically, that is. And if they are not yet in a relationship with each other, then I’m freaking sure they will be at some point, since their chemistry was simply over the top amazing, just like the show itself~
Guys, I have to apologize to you in advance. What is going to follow is indeed some awesome fanfiction recommendations, but they might feel a little… let’s say… similar, since most of them feature the same pairing.
Well, you see, when I like something, I focus my attention on that specific thing, and in this case, this “thing” is Pharmercy. So, yeah, I hope you can still enjoy~
Anime/Game: Overwatch Author: Viceter Title: Sleep Sounds Description:Pharah and Mercy have trouble sleeping. A series of chance encounters prove that the solution might be each other.
Genre: Romance, Yuri, Drama Pairing: Pharah x Mercy Status: Finished – 7 chapters
We already covered some “different” yuri works in our first post which you can find right here. Though, since new shows and such luckily keep popping up, I think we’ll never really run out of new topics to talk about, so why don’t we use the opportunity to catch up on some things?
So what you’ll find in this post is simply me talking and partly ranting about The 100, Highway Blossoms, and even Overwatch, since the Yuri community (including myself) is currently going crazy over it.
So let’s just start with The 100, probably one of the most popular ongoing TV shows featuring lesbian characters right now. Well, there’s of course Orange Is the New Black, though I tend to forget about this one, simply because I still haven’t managed to hype myself enough to actually watch more than just the first episode.
