Anime Spring Season 2017: First Impressions

2017 spring anime

It’s that time of the year again, so enjoy our First Impressions of the spring anime season that just started~

Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai
Studio: Artland, TNK • Genre: Ecchi, Fantasy

sin nanatsu no taizai
Okay guys, I know this show is bad. Very bad, to be honest. We won’t get much plot, what we get might not make any sense, and the whole show will simply focus on girls with big boobs in skimpy clothing fighting girls in even less clothing with even bigger boobs.

Let’s just move past the fact that it’s just not gonna be the best show of the season and focus on something else, because what this show will feature is yuri content, a lot of it actually, if what the first episode had to offer will be continued—and I sure believe it will.

So far, it really all reminds me a little of Valkyrie Drive, just without the yuri romance, and funny thing is, I’m actually enjoying it. Not such a big surprise to some of you, I’m sure, but I personally didn’t expect that. So I guess this means this show is going to be my personal guilty pleasure of the season~

Fall 2015 Anime Season: First Impressions

Time is seriously going by so fast lately. I feel like it was just yesterday when we did our last round of First Impressions for the summer season.

Well, no point in complaining, since I feel like this season surpasses the last one by far, especially in the yuri department! So here are our first impressions on some of the shows of this current anime season. Enjoy~

Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka??
Genre: Comedy, Slice of Life

Yes, yes, YES! I was waiting for this one for a long while, and it’s finally here!
Time to enjoy watching the daily lives of our favorite group of adorable cafe waitresses. The first episode alone already made me realize how much I was actually missing this show. It’s not only the characters, but the whole feeling that this one gives you while watching. Also, did I mention that I love their cute outfits and the whole town they live in. It’s so peaceful, it’s just calms me down.

My Top 10 Favorite Yuri Fanfiction

Since I’m such a huge fanfiction fan, I believe something like this shouldn’t be missing. Still, I think this post will mostly be a copy and paste post, since almost all of the fanfics I’ll name are already in one of my two fanfiction recommendation lists that I made some time ago. Again, I have to note that I don’t know how many people are really interested in something like this, but I really hope that I can at least help some of you find something new to read~

10. Bad Dog
Source: Shingeki no Kyojin
Author: CanaanAlphardForever

Description: Krista nearly hits a dog with her car during a storm and takes it home, only to find that it’s not just a dog, but a person named Ymir seemingly stuck within a curse.

Genre: Romance, Comedy, Supernatural
Pairing: Ymir x Christa
Words: 52,029
Chapters: 30
Status: Complete
Link

I just came across this one a few months ago and fell in love with it at first sight. Other than the characters, this fanfiction has nothing in common with the Shingeki no Kyojin anime and manga. So you could say it’s a rather light and fun story that is quite easy to read and very entertaining on top of that.

2013 Anime / Manga / Visual Novel Awards

Before reading, please keep in mind that this is just my personal list, so don’t get angry when I’m not naming your own favorites in this entry.

Also I think this is a pretty random list, since I just posted something similar to this in my “My Personal Highlights of 2013” entry some time ago.
Still, even though I will repeat a lot of what has already been said, there are quite a few new aspects I want to name in this one as well.
I think I’ll do something similar to this at the end of every year from now on, but let’s just see about that. For now, enjoy the list~

Best Yuri Anime: Shinsekai Yori
I know, I know, Shinsekai Yori is not a real yuri anime, but I guess we are kind of short on pure yuri shows this year, so I have no other choice.

My Personal Highlights of 2013

Since it’s the end of the year already, I thought it would be a good idea to just list my personal highlights of 2013 and kind of draw a final conclusion to see how “successful” this year has been for us yuri fans.

So first of all, let’s start with anime.
I think everyone will agree with me when I say that 2013 has been the year of Shingeki no Kyojin.
I have to be honest and tell you that I’m usually neither up to date with seasonal anime releases, nor do I pay attention to what shows are the most popular.
However, there was one anime this year that I could not miss simply because of its huge fandom, and I’m really happy I actually did take the time to see why everyone was going crazy about it.
Shingeki no Kyojin was without a doubt the most anticipated as well as successful anime of 2013 and I have to agree, it’s a fantastic show with a freaking awesome story. It is also one of the only (non-yuri) manga I’ve read in a long time and it’s even one of my favorites right now, which is so rare since I usually only read yuri stuff.

Well, other than the manga and anime, especially the yuri pairing YumiKuri (Ymir x Christa) has gained a lot of popularity this year. There are already tons of doujinshi, fanfics and even short animated clips of them out. And since I’m up to date with the manga, I can safely assume that the fandom won’t just stop here, but rather grow even bigger.
But since I don’t want to spoil you guys, let’s just end it here and come to another highlight that happened at the end of the year, not too long ago.
The news of the 3rd Madoka Magica movie had been around for a while and in October the movie was finally released in Japan, while some other countries had to wait until December to finally watch it.
