As you might remember, not too long ago, we boldly declared 2009 “The Greatest Year in Yuri Anime History“. Well, it only took two years for all that to change. Thanks to some highly anticipated anime adaptations and a ton of anime with yuri subtext, we’re now ready to officially declare 2018 “The New Greatest Year in Yuri Anime History”!
It’s that time of the year again, so enjoy our Final Thoughts of the 2018 fall anime season that just came to an end~
Now, as the last of what I like to call the Big Three (namely Citrus, Asagao to Kase-san., and Bloom Into You) has come to an end, I first just want to state how very satisfied I am with what 2018 offered to us yuri fans. It’s quite hard to tell which of the Big Three was best, seeing that they all depicted the yuri in very different ways, but what I can say for sure is that the community made it very vocal that we liked all three.
Now Bloom Into You—as the last to come to an end—has a very special place in my heart for not only bringing the content of its manga onto the big screen, but also for delivering so much more. It’s hard to put into words what this adaptation did to me and probably the majority of the community. In short, it was some top-notch adaptation that I simply couldn’t be happier with.
Well, my review will soon follow, of course, but please be a little patient. During this time of the year, we have quite a lot of posts scheduled.
Not too long ago, we gave you OUR choices for the best anime, manga, and
visual novels of 2018, but this time, it’s YOUR turn to choose the winners.
Because some of the categories from our list are incredibly hard to narrow down to only a handful of nominees, we’ve left some of those categories out. Also, forgive us if the nominees skew towards anime. 😛
There are other shows like Tachibanakan Triangle that could have been nominated, but let’s be real, everyone knows it’s a three horse race.
It’s that time of the year again, so enjoy our First Impressions of the 2018 fall anime season that just started~
And the second big yuri title hits the screen and the yuri community is going crazy. For good reason though! What we’ve seen so far is some solid animation, some top notch voice acting and an adaptation following its source material so strictly that I just can’t see how this could possibly go wrong. If you wanna read my full first impression, I listed all of my thoughts right in this post.
It’s barely April, and we have yet another News Update ready, and it’s such a big one even! We seriously never had a year with more awesome yuri news than this one.
Let’s hope it continues that way!
First up, after quite a long wait, we finally got the results for Mangagamer’s annual licensing survey. And who would have guessed, our favorite genre is standing strong again!
The Sono Hanabira series is now in second place, and newcomer Kotonoha Amrilato made it onto the list, too.
All in all, I think we can be quite pleased with the results. But take a look for yourself, and see the full post over at Mangagamer.
For those who haven’t heard about this yet, what it means is simply that chances are very high that we will get some more official translations. Not only for more Sono Hanabira installments, but also possibly for other yuri visual novels~
Just like our Yuri Anime 2013, Yuri Anime 2014, Yuri Anime 2015, Yuri Anime 2016, and Yuri Anime 2017 lists, this one will also feature all the yuri shows that will air in 2018. Since it’s not even 2018 yet, this list is still in progress and will be updated whenever there are new shows to add. If you feel like we missed something, feel free to name your additions~
