What We’re Listening to This Week (August 26th, 2019 Edition)

Fall is rapidly approaching, but it’s still incredibly hot, so just stay inside and take a listen to what we’ve been playing all week~

The first time I heard this song by Crush and Punch was during this Seulrene video, and I knew that I immediately had to go track the song down. Luckily, the video has the translated lyrics, so there’s no guessing what it’s all about. To no one’s surprise, it’s super sweet.

I’m surprised it’s taken this long for DAOKO to make her first appearance on here. Had we started this series sooner, I’m sure she would’ve appeared on here for Onaji Yoru, Step Up LOVE, Uchiage Hanabi, or other songs. We may or may not have a Fire Emblem: Three Houses review coming in the near future, so this DAOKO song fits perfectly.

You don’t understand. I’ve been looking for this song for like a year and a half, ever since I heard a super small snippet of it in this great Tiffany video. This is the kind of song where you can’t help but tap your toes and get into it, and those are oftentimes the best kind of songs.

Fortunately, this has nothing to do with Willy Wonka. It’s just another summer hit from RV, and I personally feel like the each of these new songs from them has been better than the last. But enough about that. Did you see Irene with blue eyes?! DID YOU?!?!?! 😀

I’m going to say something that’s going to make your brain explode. Believe it or not, that silky smooth voice you hear in this song? It’s a guy. I know, I was shocked as well. I assumed it was the girl in the video, but nope. Anyway, this is super easy to listen to and even easier to enjoy.

Prior to hearing this song, I had only heard a little bit about Hamilton, but this really opened my eyes and helped me appreciate it more. AMVs have been a great source of music discovery for me over the years, and since there’s no official video, it was the perfect chance to showcase this one. Sia is so good, and Nisekoi was fun, but I just can’t decide between Onodera and Chitoge…

At this point, I think you have to consider Lena a Once. I like Twice myself, but there are a few other girl groups that I like a bit more. That said, I can’t deny that they usually come out with super catchy tracks like this one, and their visuals are ALWAYS on point, so I can understand why she likes them so much.
