What We’re Listening to This Week (November 18, 2019 Edition)

The end of the year (and decade) is approaching, but there’s still time to enjoy some more music, as always.

My first exposure to Alessia Cara came a few years ago when I encountered this amusing video, but in the meantime, I hadn’t really liked other songs from her as much as I’m Yours… until this one. Surely we’re all going to miss some things when they eventually end, so let’s just try to enjoy them while we can.

I never got into watching Glee, but I had heard the name Chord Overstreet a few times over the years. Anyway, I found this song in this really good AMV, and when I checked to see who sung this song, it’s that name I had heard from a while back. Also, there are plenty of spoilers in that AMV, so just watch out for that. 😛

I had never heard of this singer before this song popped up on one of my Spotify playlists, but considering how much I like this song, it seems I’ve been missing out. Probably the worst thing I can say about this one is that it’s about a minute too short, because 2:38 just isn’t long enough.

I’ve only seen a couple of Kdramas, with one of them being the excellent You Are My Destiny, which features this song. I didn’t know what to expect, but I actually loved this show, and this song is super cute, and the video does a really good job of encapsulating how fun this show was at times.

I feel old. It’s been 12 YEARS since this song came out, and it doesn’t feel like it at all. I have tons of Paramore songs, but this one is probably one of my favorites, and I think for a majority of people, it’s probably their favorite song from them. I still like some of their more recent stuff, but I think these older songs have aged pretty well, just like Hayley.

And now it’s time for yet another Red Velvet song. Perhaps the worst thing about being a Kpop fan is not always knowing when things get released. Unless you’re one of those annoying Kpop fans on Twitter, it seems it’s way too easy to have a song or appearance from your favorite artist go unnoticed. But at least I eventually found this one.

When I was a kid, I was definitely a fan of The Used. Almost every day after school, I’d go home and watch some music videos on Fuse, and there were a whole lot of songs from the The Used in the video rotation back then. I guess the band is still around, but I haven’t heard from them in a while, yet these songs bring back some enjoyable memories.
